Chumba Casino’s visual identity was already strong and well established compared to many of its competitors, but the brand had yet to explore audio as part of its creative expression. To strengthen its identity across motion pieces, I was tasked with designing, composing, and arranging a custom sound piece to accompany all video work created by the motion team. Working in Adobe Audition, I combined rhythmic claps and mouth pops to capture a playful vibe, composed a short melody to sync with animated letterforms, and closed with a bright chime to reinforce the call-to-action. For the melody, I even sampled a recording of myself making a silly sound, mapping it to a MIDI keyboard to achieve a unique timbre I had envisioned.
This was the first time sound design had been considered as part of Chumba Casino’s brand identity, which made the project both challenging and rewarding. My approach was to rely closely on the animation and brand guidelines for creative direction, while iterating through multiple concepts to ensure the final mix felt versatile yet distinctively “Chumba.” The result was a playful, brand-consistent sound identity that not only enhanced the motion work but also introduced a new dimension to how the brand engaged with its audience.
