The Setting Sun (2015)
The Superjesus

In 2015, aussie rock band The Superjesus, released their digital EP titled 'The Setting Sun'. The brief requested subtle references to the Japanese culture of the 80s. The decision to approach the brief with Illustrator was a personal challenge to produce a design that could easily have been achieved with Photoshop but completely vector.

The early concept design was the result of marrying the layers of various vector elements with respective blending modes, and the geometric aesthetic. Despite the achievement of a completely vector-based cover art, the final cover artwork decided to completely strip back the design to its bare essentials establishing a very minimalist design.

As a result, skins were generated for Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pushing the release of the EP.
